I was born in Bountiful, Utah (near Salt Lake City)in 1964. My love for photography started at an early age and soon became a passion. My ability to capture the beauty of even the most mundane of subjects is where I think my talent lies, seeing things that most people would not. Raised near the mountains of Utah, as a child I was indoctrinated into the full spectrum of outdoor activities with my family. It was from those experiences that I developed an appreciation for the outdoors and nature. My father, an established artist and wood carver, has installed in me the ability to develop and express my creativity through my photography. Although an amateur and mostly self-taught, I have studied at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, the Salt Lake Art Institute and I have studied numerous books on varied photographic subjects.
Still residing in Utah, I have been creating beautiful images for over 30 years. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States, particularly throughout the west, and I have traveled internationally as well. Rarely do I leave home without camera in hand.
My photos reflect my love for beauty and life. I try to capture the true essence of my subjects and transform that into beautiful images. With no particular specialization, I work with all types of subjects including nature and landscape photography, portraiture, still life, and both natural and digital abstractions.
I work primarily with high-resolution digital imagery, currently shooting with a Nikon D200 digital camera, and I have experimented in different forms of digital image manipulation.
